Okay, let’s be honest. There are few men out there who love buying clothing like we do. Even when they do buy clothes, it isn’t exactly a riveting activity and very little research actually goes into choosing something that is absolutely perfect. Today, I want to share with you ten tips that I truly believe will help make that buying process a great deal easier.

1. You should ALWAYS buy clothes from a reputable supplier. There are plenty of men out there who head online and think they can score some terrific designer clothing at knock down prices. Honestly, if the price seems too good to be true then it most likely is. If you have had no experience with that particular retailer before then make sure you do as much research as possible before you commit to a purchase.
2. Measure your current clothing. Remember, when you buy clothes online you will have little to no chance of being able to return them (some places do offer returns but it can be quite a cumbersome process). This means that you need to get it perfect. Take all your vital measurements such as chest, waist, hips, in seam and arm length so you get your sizes right.
3. Search through multiple websites. Not only does this increase the range that you can choose from, but it also increases the chance of you being able to find a deal on a certain piece of clothing.
4. Know what you are buying before you make your purchase. One of the pitfalls of buying online is that you don’t really know if something is going to look good on you or not. I know this is a little sneaky, but hey, I’m trying to get you a good deal – you should try on the clothes in a local shop first to see if a style suits you. If it doesn’t, don’t purchase it online.
5. Try to purchase as many clothes as possible from the same retailer. This means not jumping from company to company. This will cut down on the shipping costs (which are normally quite high depending on where you live) and thus helps to save a little dough!
6. Carry out research into the sizing of a particular brand before you purchase it. One of the biggest problems people face is that there is no real standard when it comes to sizing. For example, a brand may claim something is an L when really it is an M to most other brands. Thankfully there are plenty of sizing charts out there for you to use.
7. Sign up to the newsletters of as many companies as possible when you look to buy clothes online. Quite often they will send out gift vouchers which means you can make even more savings on the things that you buy.
8. Sometimes it may be tempting to purchase clothing abroad. For example, directly from Italy when it comes to suits. However, you need to bear in mind that there are often import charges. It may therefore save you a lot of money buying clothes directly from your home country.
9. Learn how to spot fakes! I briefly mentioned this before, but I am serious about this. You need to know when you are looking at fake clothing. Again, there is plenty of information out there online with regards to how to go about this so please do your research!
10. Make a “wish list” of the types of clothes that you are going to be buying before you head online. This way you won’t get distracted by other types of clothes, and thus you are less likely to overspend!
