Isn’t summer great – all that sunshine, more time spent outdoors. Gorgeous. There are a lot of different pieces that you can put together for the summer, no matter where you are. If you’re going to be out in the sun, you’ll obviously want to stay away from putting on too many layers, but you still want to have a bit of fun with your look and be conscious of the various choices that are available for men’s summer fashion. Whether you are going to hit the pool or just enjoy a stroll downtown, there are some essential ideas to consider before you step outside of the home.

Fabric selection is your first consideration, and it’s going to be essential to being free outside. You’ll want to concentrate on light cottons and things that are not going to be heavy on you. Ditch the hoodie, forget the jacket and don’t reach for the windbreaker. Instead, try a tank that is a bit slim fit and let your arms breathe a bit. If you’re not comfortable in a form-fitting tank, then try to go with a t-shirt that is light and airy, but doesn’t necessarily have a large silk screen print on it. Try to avoid too much detail and stick to something plain and fresh.

As for pants, this is a tricky option that most people won’t want to debate. Go for shorts that are fitting at your waist and a bit longer in length. Do not go overboard here, as the fit is essential to the look you are trying to pull off. Men’s summer fashion ideas are not conducive with just letting it all hang out. Grab a belt and make sure that under no circumstances you allow yourself to tuck in your shirt or to sag your shorts. Keep them fitted at your waist and use a good belt.

Accessories are next, and they should be a major factor in what you’re wearing outdoors. Pick a good watch and make sure it’s water resistant in case you end up getting in the water. Do not assume that you will get drenched, but ensure that a light splash upon it will be okay. Aside from that, consider adding the right pair of shades. If you wear glasses, opt for contacts when going outside and pick a fashionable pair of frames with 100% UV protection. Ray Ban sunglasses, for instance, are getting a lot of mention in magazines and are timeless. No matter what sub genre of music you listen to, or what movies you like, you’ll find that the cool people always have a pair of shades on, and what other brand is as iconic?

When all else fails, try to emulate some of the men’s magazines that are available throughout the summer and seek affordable looks that have the elements that we’ve mentioned above. Dressing for summer, whether casually or for business, requires a bit of thought, but one thing to always remember is to keep cool regardless of where you are. No matter what your plans are for going outside, make sure that you are comfortable and look good. Men’s summer fashion isn’t complicated, but at the same time, it’s not something that should be a point of slacking off.
