Jackets aren’t just for winter chills or to create a business styled look. The selection of jackets has diversified dramatically over the years, giving you more reasons and opportunities to add more jackets to your wardrobe. Whether you’re a fan of the traditional over sized fashion jackets for men or the stylish leather jackets of rock ‘n roll fandom, this year’s biggest trends involve great coats that complete “the look” of your outfit. Read ahead to find out a few do’s and donts of fashion jackets for men.
A Strong start:
Before you set out to buy a new jacket, think about what you already have in your closet in-terms of colors and textures. If you buy a sporty red jacket that clashes with your whole wardrobe, then you’ll just end up with a case of buyer’s remorse and an unused jacket. Think about the purpose of your jacket. If your primary focus is to find a jacket for winter, you wouldn’t want to forgo a simple looking jacket that is incredibly warm for a thin fashion jacket now would you? I know that some jackets are just too awesome to pass up, especially if you get it on sale, but stick to neutral colors if you’re someone who already has a lot of bright items in your closet.
Streamlined styles:
When searching for a jacket you may think detailing such as the use of pockets and zips can add to the fashion and functionality aspect. However, most times out of ten, too many pockets and zips just make the jacket look like a disaster, with them becoming a nuisance and being unusable. Less is better, unless you’re one of those tech guys who need pockets for computer accessories and cell phone add-ons. Are you?
Quality materials:
If you live in the colder regions, you will undoubtedly want a high quality wool or insulated leather fashion jacket for men. You could go retro and get a really nice jeans jacket that will last you a long time and work for a variety of outfits. Some jackets out there even come with built-in water repellent technology, doubling as a raincoat. NASCAR fans, and some non-fans, sport some of the biggest attention-getters on the market. They are a bit pricey, but very well-made. Motorcycle jackets are also a trendy, yet expensive investment to make for a premium fashion jacket for men. They’re designed to prevent road rash in the event of a crash and are made of excellent materials with some pretty amazing designs.
We all have unique personalities and interests and this is represented in the jackets we choose for ourselves. Whether it is for purpose or fashion, choose a jacket that fits with your current wardrobe, is classic in style and is made of quality materials that suit its function and look. What do you think; are you more of a motorcycle or soft woollen jacket type of guy?
