I am not normally a huge fan of leather but my sister bought me this BGSD New Zealand lambskin leather blazer in hazelnut the other week and boy have I got a lot to say. One of the main reasons I don’t usually go for leather clothing is that it can be very high maintenance. Now I’m not afraid of high maintenance – I have a ton of fashion forward stuff that just wouldn’t be standout if there wasn’t some form of maintenance involved but certain leather products have this shiny and rubbery feel to them that get smudged easily and tend to retain fingerprints. Also, leather can’t be worn all year round, especially during summertime. I like my clothes to be wearable at any given time of the year. It stops me from needing to buy too many pieces that don’t complement my closet well.

So when my sister said she bought me a leather jacket, I was quite curious to see what it was like. Upon touching the blazer, I was taken aback by how smooth and soft the leather felt. It totally did NOT have the rubbery feel that I was expecting despite the fact that it was very shiny. My sister felt she deserved a complement or two for choosing a color that went perfectly with my skin tone. She said the blazer also came in black and espresso. Now I would have preferred the espresso one, maybe it’s just my taste, but she did pick a great jacket and for that, I say – thanks Sis!

The jacket is single breasted which makes it easier to wear on a normal day with regular t-shirts. There are two simple buttons in front that are in a slightly darker color than the leather itself. The jacket has roomy interior pockets that I appreciate a lot because I prefer carrying stuff around in my jacket pocket rather than in my pant pockets. The vents of the blazer are at the back and I was glad to find it was not single vented. My sister definitely knew what she was doing when she was picking this out for me. There are also two flap patch pockets on the front side of the jacket and a chest pocket.

When I first tried the blazer on I was surprised yet again. It did not feel as hot as I thought it would be. The slim fit really matched my style and gave the blazer a very modern appearance when worn.

Overall, I was very happy with the gift I received. Unlike what I had first thought, it seems that this New Zealand lambskin leather blazer from BGSD will stay with me for a very long time and will be used quite often.
